Lelia Amanda Hale born 1887 in Virginia

Lelia Amanda Hale, daughter of Daniel Franklin Kincaid Hale (1850-1928) and Alma Rose Crotshin (1854-1945), was born November 14, 1887 in Narrows, Virginia and moved to Pearisburg for a few years when a young child. She was fourth in a family of seven, with one sister and five brothers. They were Ira, Peyton, Pat, Dan, Henry, and Chap.

Lelia Amanda Hale married Emmett Earl Woodson on  August 29, 1918 at her home on Wolf Creek in Narrows, VA. He was 36 years old and and she was 30, so they had plenty of time to think it over. For their wedding Lelia Amanda wore a brown plaid taffeta dress. They decorated the house with Goldenrod, a yellow wild flower which blooms in abundance in August, and often causes hay fever, so there may have been some sneezing for the occasion.
